Short Bio

You might have already heard of Buddy AKai… in 2008 their track “Cut Me Up”(Villains Remix) was one of the most blogged / downloaded dance tracks worldwide that year.

Buddy Akai has been making the high heeled, converse stomping, electro popping kiddies dance to their rocking beats since February of 2005, . Their sound can be described as a mix of indie/electro/rock. Their mix of samples, sequences, arpegiated synths and processed vocals holds both a dance and rock influence making their sound a true modern and eclectic sound.

Buddy Akai is currently releasing their new album “Junkie Kids” (May of 2010) under their own label (Produced & Recorded by Buddy Akai @ Signature Sound and Buddy Akai’s own studio/ Mixed and mastered by Ruben Tamayo [Static Discos (MX), Cyan (MX), Level (DE)]. After a year of recording and producing, this new album encompasses their influences and the style they have been cultivating for the past 4 years. The 10 songs therein are said to have a deep range of evolutionary style that differ from one song to the next (Rock, Dance, Electro, Ballad).

Earlier in 2010, after their East Coast mini tour, Buddy Akai taped a segment for “Fearless Music” and “LatinNation”, both are nationally syndicated music programs which are set to air in April of 2010, right before the release of their new album “Junkie Kids”.

2008 brought great things for this indie electro rock quartet. The release of their debut album borught them opening slots for big name artist like MSTRKRFT, The Bravery, VHS or Beta, Chromeo, Common, and many others.
